Palladium IP, LLC was founded by Michael Vartanian, a twenty year veteran of technology and entrepreneurship with a EE Masters Degree and MBA from Michigan, who has spent years bouncing between high-tech jobs and ongoing personal entrepreneurial ventures. Working with tech startups and as a serial inventor and entrepreneur, Mike has experienced firsthand the hurdles associated with seeking funding, securing strong patent protection and leveraging one’s IP for business growth and/or monetization. To help remove these obstacles to innovation and business growth and in turn to level the field for individuals, startups and small businesses, Palladium IP was launched in 2019.
Through a series of partnerships, Palladium brings together the combined expertise of: 1) cost-effective IP boutiques with proven prosecution, post-grant and litigation track records; 2) experienced licensing managers to assist with monetization campaigns and 3) litigation financing companies to fund enforcement programs. By bringing these services together under one umbrella, individual inventors and small businesses can access the full complement of resources--counseling, specialized services and financial backing-- needed to fully leverage their innovation.
Budget constraints of individual inventors and small businesses often severely limit their ability to retain the expertise needed to fully protect their innovation. Even when IP protection is secured, it is difficult to fund multiple filings to build and maintain a robust patent family that fully protects and adequately rewards innovation. And, in the event of infringement, the costs associated with mounting a licensing campaign serve as a major deterrent to action; which can be compounded should litigation ensue. Without substantial funding, litigation fees and costs make it difficult for individual inventors and small businesses to go the distance in a patent trial.
To date, there have been few available options to level the field. Law firms are rarely able to take on IP prosecution through contingent agreements and equally have difficulty taking on all but a limited type of litigation case on a contingent basis. Palladium redefines this paradigm.
Palladium provides a customized set of advisory services to meet their partners’ short and long-term goals. By way of example, intensive, strategic prosecution can be provided as part of a comprehensive monetization or enforcement program. Such services can also be provided for a range of patent assets whether a large or small group of issued patents or a single pending patent application. Likewise, monetization or enforcement programs can be customized to meet the needs of a targeted licensing program or a full-blown enforcement action against multiple Fortune 100 companies. The full assortment of services can be offered with a variety of risk/reward models to suit the individual/small businesses current needs.
Owing to its extensive network of partnerships with trusted experts, Palladium can develop and offer a customized program that is tailored to suit the IP, business and financial needs of the individual inventor or small business owner. Palladium is equipped to find infringers, perfect claims to ensure protection against the infringement, secured enforcement funding and leverage specialized counsel for a full monetization program running from ongoing prosecution for claim enhancement through full-scale litigation for enforcement.
Palladium leverages the power of technology, from big data to analytics, to remain nimble and employ outside-the-box solutions so our partners can obtain competitive advantage from the onset. Palladium is constantly seeking new and better ways to identify valuable inventions and to maximize that value, allowing individual inventors to realize the true worth of their personal contributions to the global pool of innovation.
